Veezyon is a social learning platform. We are building Veezyon based on the principles that we believe will define the future of learning: Student/Learner centric, Participatory (social), Dynamic, Location independent, and Cross  institutional.

Here is more information about Veezyon’s founding team, thanks for stopping by!

Doruk Aytulu, Business Guy

Doruk does most of the operations stuff so others can have more fun. Deadlines, partnerships, planning, investor meetings, and all sorts of other meetings… He will not admit it but we know he likes meetings. Doruk has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He got his MBA at San Diego State University, where as a graduate assistant, he worked with DARPA and CCAT on market assessment projects for early stage technologies. Following his passion for early stage technology commercialization, he applied and was selected for an internship at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.   At LANL, his managers gave him and other fellow interns free passes (well almost free) to technical divisions to identify commercially viable technologies. Doruk started working for LANL after the internship. He was instrumental in spinning out companies, performed technology licensing, administered an internal technology maturation fund with an annual budget of $450,000. As part of his regional economic development responsibilities he worked with over 150 Southern California and New Mexico high-tech companies.

Joshua Thorp, Technology Guy

Joshua masters concepts such as Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS), Agent Based Modeling (ABM) and scientific visualization. Team meetings with Joshua are fun and educational; Wikipedia is always within arm’s reach for translation of technical terms. Joshua has a B.S. in Computer Science with a concentration in Mathematics from Cornell University. He has worked with institutions such as Los Alamos National Laboratory and BiosGroup, has been a team facilitator, educational software developer and has helped create the curriculum for Project GUTS (Growing up Thinking Scientifically), an NSF funded project demonstrating basic concepts of ABM and CAS. He instructs New Mexico’s next generation computer scientists as long as their teachers for the New Mexico Supercomputing Challenge. Needless to say, he is in charge of ‘all things tech’ here at Veezyon.

Lale Kumral, Community Gal

Prior to cofounding Veezyon, she was the Marketing Director of a non-profit theatre in Solana Beach, California. At North Coast Repertory Theatre she introduced the first online single ticket and subscription sales at a time when much bigger budget organizations did not have such capabilities. At her first year she increased their subscription sales by almost 70% despite a nationwide downward trend. Lale is passionate about people, communicating with them is what she loves to do. That is why managing and growing NCRT’s community was a natural thing to do.She was in charge of overseeing the website and all other online ad and collateral production and distribution. She initiated the patron email database and an active email club. Just about then she had caught the Internet bug and realized how powerful it could be.  This prompted her to get her Certificate on Web Publishing at UCSD.  She also was the graduate assistant to an Internet Marketing Professor at SDSU during her MBA program.

As the person in charge of marketing at a non-profit, she had limited resources. As a startup with potential, we try to match it and provide almost close to nonexistent resources to her to perform her job. She is a professionally trained veterinarian, with an MBA, who turned out to be a cofounder at a consumer web company targeting knowledge seekers. Veezyon is a pet friendly company by default.
